The 3 Factors in Choosing the Right Over-The-Counter Acne Products
Nowadays it is increasingly difficult to choose the right acne skin care product to buy. The main source of such inconvenience can be contributed to the large number of skin care products available to the consumers and in part of the medical advances made possible by the skin experts.
Before you decide on which product to buy, certain things are to be given closer look. It is hard to be selecting from numerous over-the-counter products, especially if they are all claiming to be the best. It is irrational to go and buy right away the most saleable product available.
Here are 3 factors to aid you in selecting the acne treatment that will suit your condition best.
1. Know Your Type of Skin
For anyone with oily skin, it is best to select products which is in a form of liquid or wash to reduce further oiliness of the skin. Products that are water-based don’t block pores and is useful in washing excess oils. For those with dry skin, choose a cream or gel type products. For people with a skin type that’s a mix of two then, it needs to be spot-treated.
Choose the acne treatment product that works effectively on the affected areas. If your dry skin springs up pimples, then select a gel or a cream form. If the acne condition breaks up in the oily areas, then choose water-based product. The sensitivity of your skin is another factor under skin type.
Most products in the market carry strong chemicals designed to cause peeling of the skin. Thus for people with sensitive skin be careful in choosing and use the least potent possible. Carefully review labels and check the active ingredients and their individual dosages since you can worsen an acne condition by using a product that is too powerful.
Unintentionally you may end up over drying the affected area, making your sensitive skin respond negatively through more sebum production which will lead to more acne. Going for a gentler acne treatment when your skin is sensitive is the safe and smart approach.
2. Consider How Severe Your Acne Is
There is a wide range of acne treatment products, varying from topical (applied to the skin) to oral (taken by the mouth). Different stages of acne have particular corresponding treatment. Are you experiencing a handful of blackheads and whiteheads and a few pimples? Then you may have mild acne. If it’s just a few pimples with red blemishes and scarring, then you might be suffering from moderate acne. Or if it is more than pimples and blemishes with lesions and major breakouts all throughout you face, then it might be a severe acne case. Understanding the severity of your acne will help you in choosing the products with the correct ingredients for your skin condition.
3. Define Your Personal Goal In Treating Your Acne
Do you simply want to prevent acne? Then select the right skin care and acne preventing products. Is your objective to achieve a smooth and flawless skin? Then choose acne products that can clear away those acne scars if not reduce them.
Remember that all medications and treatments work differently and can have various side effects. Always review your product’s package to know the proper dose and application and always ask your dermatologist about any possible side effects.

Can Magnetic Therapy Really Help You?

Does Magnetic Therapy Work?
Some of the prevailing theories on why magnetic therapy may work to help chronic pain have to do with the magnetic fields ability to relax capillary walls in the body, causing an increase in blood flow throughout your system. This is equivalent to having a massage therapist working on your muscles to increase blood flow and stimulate the areas around the muscles to speed up healing.
Other studies have suggested that magnetic therapy may help prevent muscle spasms that could be the root to many forms of pain. Some of these forms of pain are relieved because the magnets may actually lesson muscle contractions. This is equivalent to a sort of loosening of the muscles for faster healing and relaxation.
Other ideas as to why magnetic therapy may work include the magnetic fields ability to interfere with electrochemical reactions which take place within nerve cells. This can actually limit the cells ability to send pain messages to the brain, thus helping to alleviate chronic pain. Whatever the case, magnetic therapy is certainly full of theories, all of which still remain to be totally proven with scientific study.
- Magnetic Therapy Side Effects?
However on a very positive side concerning magnetic therapy, all the studies have clearly shown there has never been any adverse side effects from the use of magnets to help with chronic pain. For instance, the risk of using a magnet is much less then taking over the counter aspirin or ibuprofen. So anyone using magnetic therapy for pain relief can be rest assured they are not damaging their body.
- Magnetic Therapy Testimonials and the “Cure”
There is in fact a somewhat significant body of evidence that supports magnetic pain treatment and furthermore, testimonials which are constantly showing up around the world proving that at least in individual cases, magnetic therapy can work much more effectively then other treatments for certain individuals. This is not to say that magnetic therapy is a proven “cure” for all pain, on the contrary, anyone marketing magnet therapy products must not say that magnets can “cure” or “heal.” This is because the evidence to back up these claims simply does not exist.
For instance, some studies have shown that 80% of chronic pain sufferers might benefit from magnetic therapy, while other studies have shown magnetic therapy to do little more than provide a placebo affect.
However, if some of these studies continue to show the therapeutic benefits of magnetic therapy, there is no telling how many people might end their chronic pain suffering by using magnets, especially if they understand how to properly use magnetic therapy for optimal benefits.
- How To Apply A Magnet For Therapeutic Use?
Magnets should be applied against the skin and directly over the area that is causing the pain. If the magnet does not relieve the pain in a few days, it may be a good idea to reposition the magnet until the desired pain relief is achieved.
- Which Magnetic Therapy Products Are Best?
There are many different magnetic therapy products on the market, but to get the most benefit, you should look for products that you use every day. For instance, magnetic therapy chairs, magnetic therapy mattresses and magnetic therapy car seats are all good choices because you spend most of your time sitting at your desk, sleeping in your bed, or driving in your car. Magnetic therapy proponents think the more time you spend near a magnet, the better.
- Are All Magnets Created Equal?
The simple answer is no, not every magnet is created equal. For instance there are differences in magnet strength as well as the positioning of the magnets in order to achieve optimal therapeutic benefits. Keep in mind that the difference between buying a quality magnet pain therapy product or wasting you hard earned money may depend on which magnetic therapy vendor you decide to purchase from.

Magnetic Therapy: Does it Really Work?

- How Magnet Therapy Works:
Magnetic therapy works by relaxing capillary walls in the body and in this way, increasing blood flow throughout the body. This increased blood flow will help any painful areas in the body. The magnets are simply placed by the skin in order to relax the capillary walls.
Magnet therapy also claims to prevent muscle spasms that may be the root to many forms of pain. Some of these forms of pain are relieved because the magnetic therapy can actually lesson muscle contractions.
Magnetic therapy is also said to interfere with electrochemical reactions which take place within nerve cells. This can actually limit the cells ability to send pain messages to the brain.
On top of of this, magnetic therapy has no known side effects so the risks are much less then taking aspirin or ibuprophen for pain.
- Other Studies:
There seems to be a very large body of evidence in support of magnetic therapy to treat pain. Some of these studies include fibromyalgia patients who felt more pain relief by sleeping on magnetic mattresses compared to those who didn’t, and magnetic foot pads that were used to relieve numbness and other pain related to patients with diabetes.
Some studies have shown that 80% of chronic pain sufferers could benefit from magnetic therapy. If these studies continue to produce positive results, it looks like magnetic therapy might be the answer for many chronic pain sufferers.
- How To Use the Magnets:
The magnets should be placed against the skin and directly over the area that is causing pain. If the magnet does not seem to be relieving pain after a few days, you can reposition the magnet over the nearest acupuncture point.
Some Common Uses for Magnetic Therapy Include:
- Back Pain
- Arthritis
- Foot Pain
- Tennis Elbow
- Headaches and migraines
- The Bottom Line:
Magnetic therapy may or may not work for you, but there seems to be an impressive body of evidence that suggests magnetic therapy might be worth a try. Especially if you have tried other forms of pain therapy with limited success.
Some magnetic therapy users will use magnetic therapy in conjunction with other types of pain relief including acupuncture or massage therapy.
Magnetic therapy is used for many different types of pain, and as you might have guess, that means there are many different magnetic therapy products on the market. These range from magnetic mattresses to magnetic chairs to magnetic foot pads. Finding a magnetic therapy solution that is right for you should not prove too difficult, especially as magnetic therapy continues to grow in popularity.

Reviews On Natural Products For Adhd – A Controversial Issue
August 27, 2008 by admin
Filed under Natural & Homeopathic Remedies
I don\’t know about you but there are so many warnings about ADHD psychostimulants now that I have stopped being surprised or shocked. We never hear any negative reviews on natural products for ADHD. The natural remedies for ADHD critics will sneer that very few conclusive tests have been done to show that natural products for ADHD actually are effective. They also raise questions about the long term effects of these remedies – this is laughable as there are no studies done on the long term risks and effects of ADHD psychostimulants. At least they have not been published.
Everybody seems to be getting on the ADHD bandwagon. I am not talking just about doctors and pediatricians here but also parents and teachers. Some unscrupulous parents actually WANT an ADHD diagnosis so that they can claim government funds or even special facilities at school such as one-to-one tuition or very small classes. Teachers are setting themselves up as doctors and recommending parents to put the ADHD child on Ritalin so there is no disruptive behaviour in their classes. When the psychostimulants (Adderall, Metadate, Dexedrine and Cylert) do not work with some ADHD children, they are put on anti-depressants.
There are no negative reviews on natural products for ADHD as regards possible side effects because there aren\’t any. Compare that to :- insomnia, weight loss, stunted growth, \’zombie\’ behaviour, mood swings, loss of appetite, heart problems, nervous tics and the latest one is hallucinations. These are some of the side effects of amphetamine drugs (remember \’speed\’? – it\’s the same !).
There are positive reviews on natural products for ADHD but they are rarely published because they have no financial backing. Basically there are no side effects and they are perfectly safe. There is no risk of drug abuse. There is no need for medical monitoring. The most popular natural products are homeopathic remedies.
Look at the work done by Stephen Hinshaw of UC Berkeley who is an ADHD expert. He studied attention deficit disorders in children who were prescribed Ritalin for a period of two years. These unfortunate children were an inch shorter in height and weighed 8 pounds less than the children who were not on medication ! That is what they mean by \’stunted growth\’. The FDA says more research needs to be done but that study was published five years ago, so the stunted growth issue has been brushed under the carpet.
Most experts now recommend medication in conjunction with psychotherapy, counselling or behaviour therapy. There is an issue here with the insurance companies so the cost of these treatments may be prohibitive. All the reviews of natural products for ADHD report that a homeopathic remedy is ideal in that it can be used in combination therapy and is perfectly safe, effective and free of side effects. Make sure you study the remedies and the manufacturing process and also if the facility is FDA approved. The link below will take you to one of the most reputable companies in this field and they offer iron clad guarantees.

Toddler with Speech Delay & Advanced Skills what type of pre school program will be best?

My son will turn 3 in the end of May. He is currently receiving therapy for his speech delay and sensory processing issues. He has made huge progress with his speech but is still about 6 months behind his peers. He has also made tremendous progress with his sensory issues. We help him get organized and most days are great with only a few off days.
I recently discovered after talking with my son’s therapists that while he has a speech delay he has many strengths and advanced skills. Some skills ranging from a 4 year old to a 1st grader, so I am told. He knows all of his colors, shapes, letters, and how to count up to ten. He can also spell small words completely on his own with magnets, count somewhat accurately up to 20, complete puzzles/games designed for children ages 4+. He can also use the mouse completely on his own to play his favorite educational computer games.
If my son qualifies for SE preschool should I place him there even though he is so bright?
